These Terms & Conditions apply to the hire of all horseboxes and horse trailers supplied by Stable Transport Ltd. By hiring a vehicle or trailer from us, you agree to comply with the following terms.
To hire a horsebox from Stable Transport Ltd, the hirer must:
Stable Transport Ltd reserves the right to refuse hire if insurance cover cannot be obtained.
Before collection, the hirer must provide:
Failure to provide the required documentation may result in cancellation of the booking.
The hire period begins at the agreed collection time and ends at the agreed return time. Late returns may incur additional charges unless agreed in advance.
A refundable security deposit is held on the same payment card used at booking. The amount is confirmed at the time of booking and is displayed on your booking summary and confirmation email.
How the deposit works:
The deposit will be released in full once:
Horseboxes are supplied with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with a full tank. If the vehicle is not returned full, the cost of refuelling plus an administration charge may be deducted from the security deposit. Trailers do not require fuel.
Comprehensive insurance is included for declared and approved drivers only. Insurance does not cover:
The hirer remains responsible for any insurance excess and any uninsured losses.
The vehicle or trailer must only be used for the transportation of horses, lawful purposes, and personal use unless otherwise agreed. The following are prohibited:
The hirer is responsible for ensuring their towing vehicle is legally suitable, the driver holds the correct licence entitlement, the towing vehicle has adequate towing capacity, and the trailer is correctly connected before travel.
The hirer agrees to drive responsibly, carry out basic safety checks, keep the vehicle secure when unattended, lock all doors, report any faults immediately, and ensure horses are transported safely.
Breakdown assistance is included during the hire period. In the event of a breakdown: stop in a safe place, contact the breakdown provider, notify Stable Transport Ltd immediately, and do not authorise repairs without prior approval unless required for safety.
Any accident, damage or theft must be reported immediately. The hirer must inform Stable Transport Ltd as soon as possible, obtain details of any third parties, report incidents to the police where required, and complete any accident report requested. The hirer must not admit liability on behalf of Stable Transport Ltd.
All vehicles and trailers are cleaned and disinfected after every hire. The hirer should return the vehicle in a reasonably clean condition. Excessive soiling, excessive horse waste or failure to remove personal belongings may result in additional cleaning charges.
Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited inside all horseboxes. Cleaning or repair costs arising from smoking damage will be charged to the hirer.
Only horses may be transported unless agreed in writing. The hirer is responsible for ensuring horses are fit to travel and transported safely in accordance with current welfare legislation.
Booking & payment method. All bookings are made online via our website. Payment is processed securely by Stripe; we do not receive, store or handle your card details directly.
Hire fee. The full hire fee is charged to your card at the time of booking. Your card details are securely retained by Stripe so that we can place the deposit hold on collection day (see Section 4).
Deposit hold. No deposit is taken at booking. On collection day we authorise a hold on the same card for the deposit amount. The hold reserves funds without charging the card and is released on satisfactory return.
Damage or additional costs. Any repair costs, additional cleaning, fuel top-ups, late-return fees, traffic offences, or other charges arising from the hire may be captured from the deposit hold. Where captured amounts exceed the deposit, the hirer will be invoiced for the balance and payment is due within 7 days.
Currency. All prices displayed on the website are in Pounds Sterling (GBP). Receipts are issued by email at the point of charge.
Card requirements. The card used for booking must be a personal or business card in the hirer's name and must remain valid through the collection date. We reserve the right to request identification matching the cardholder's name before collection.
All cancellations must be made by telephone. Call the yard on 07444 912345 during yard hours (Monday to Saturday, 7am to 7pm). Cancellations and refunds are processed manually by our team — the website does not offer self-service cancellation.
Refund schedule. Refunds of the hire fee are applied on the following schedule, measured from the collection date and time:
Deposit on cancellation. Because the deposit is only authorised on collection day, no deposit funds are held or refunded when you cancel in advance. If you cancel after the deposit hold has been placed, the hold is released in full (subject to any damage or outstanding charges).
Processing timeframe. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment card within 5 to 10 working days of the cancellation call. Your card issuer may take additional time to display the funds. Stripe processing fees are non-refundable.
Cancellations by us. In the rare event we must cancel your booking (mechanical failure, safety concern, unavailable vehicle), a full refund of the hire fee is provided. Stable Transport Ltd is not liable for any consequential losses.
Waiver. Stable Transport Ltd reserves the right to waive cancellation charges in exceptional circumstances at its sole discretion.
Late returns without prior agreement may incur additional daily hire charges. Where another booking is affected, the hirer may also be liable for any associated losses.
The hirer is responsible for parking fines, speeding offences, congestion charges, Clean Air Zone charges, toll charges, and any administration fees relating to these offences.
Stable Transport Ltd offers emergency equine transport hire subject to vehicle availability. Emergency bookings remain subject to these Terms & Conditions.
Stable Transport Ltd accepts no responsibility for injury to horses unless caused by proven negligence, loss or damage to personal belongings, or delays caused by traffic, weather or breakdown beyond our control.
